Accrington ST beat Cheltenham Town 2-0 at the Wham Stadium on Saturday, with substitute Charlie Warren scoring both goals late on. The win moves John Doolan's side up to 19th in League Two, now on seven points from their opening eight matches.
Warren broke the deadlock in the 78th minute, finishing from Connor O'Brien's pass. He doubled the lead nine minutes later, capitalising on a tiring Cheltenham side that had been reduced to ten men after Charlie McCann's second yellow card. Manager Steve Cotterill had kept his Cheltenham lineup unchanged from their previous win, but his plans were undone by the late dismissal.
Accrington dominated the shot count, registering 22 attempts to Cheltenham's six. The hosts also saw Tyler Walton, Josh Woods and David Tutonda booked in a physical encounter.
The result provides a welcome boost after a run of one win in five games. Accrington ST now prepare for a trip to face 20th-placed Oldham Athletic next Saturday.
